1. About MetaWiz and acceptance
MetaWiz is a web-based research platform for systematic reviews and evidence synthesis. Its features may include citation management, study screening, independent reviewer workflows, full-text review, data extraction, risk-of-bias assessments, evidence analysis, and optional AI-assisted tools. Feature availability depends on the applicable plan and development status.
These Terms govern access to and use of the MetaWiz website and research platform. By registering an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use MetaWiz on behalf of an institution, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.
2. Accounts and authorized users
You must provide accurate registration information, protect your login credentials, and promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized account access. You are responsible for activity by people you authorize to use your account or research workspace, subject to applicable law.
Project access is controlled through available roles and permissions. You are responsible for inviting appropriate collaborators, assigning reviewer roles, and ensuring that research information is shared only with authorized individuals. Account sharing intended to evade subscription restrictions, unauthorized automated access, and interference with platform security are prohibited.
3. Research-use limitations
MetaWiz supports research workflows; it does not replace independent scientific assessment, statistical judgment, peer review, ethical approval, or professional advice. Users must verify study eligibility, source documents, extracted data, effect estimates, bias assessments, and research conclusions before relying on them.
Patient-identifiable information is prohibited on MetaWiz. You must not upload, paste, enter, import or share identifiable patient or participant health information anywhere in the service, including project files, abstracts, extraction tables, reviewer comments, support messages or AI prompts. This includes names, contact details, medical-record numbers, identifiable clinical records or images, and combinations of details from which an individual could reasonably be identified. Replacing a name with a code is not necessarily sufficient if the information can still be linked to a person.
MetaWiz is intended for lawfully accessed published research materials and appropriately de-identified research data. You are responsible for removing identifying details before submission, including from otherwise published or licensed documents, and for ensuring you have all necessary permissions and rights. Do not submit other highly sensitive or restricted personal information. If prohibited information is submitted accidentally, stop sharing it and promptly contact admin@examlaunch.com for review.
4. AI-assisted features
Certain tools may provide optional algorithmic or AI-generated suggestions, classifications, summaries, or analytical assistance. Outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, biased, or inappropriate for a particular study. Human researchers remain responsible for validation and final decisions. Where an enabled feature uses an external AI processor, relevant inputs may be transmitted to that processor as described in our Privacy Policy. The prohibition on patient-identifiable information applies equally to AI prompts and AI-assisted features. Do not submit confidential or restricted material unless you have the required authorization and it otherwise complies with these Terms.
5. User content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of the original research materials, datasets, and other content that you lawfully upload, subject to third-party rights. You grant the MetaWiz operator a limited, non-exclusive right to host, store, process, display, and transmit that content only as needed to provide, secure, support and maintain the service, and as otherwise permitted by the Privacy Policy or your agreement with us.
MetaWiz software, interfaces, branding, documentation, and other proprietary platform materials remain the intellectual property of their respective owners. Your subscription grants a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the platform under these Terms; it does not transfer ownership of the software. You must not copy, reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the platform except as permitted by mandatory law or express written permission.
6. Plans, pricing, and recurring subscriptions
MetaWiz may offer free, paid, and institutionally negotiated plans. Plan features and current prices are described on our Pricing page. At the effective date of these Terms, the standard advertised Pro options are US$14.99 per month and US$149 per year, subject to any applicable taxes, location-specific pricing, or changes disclosed before purchase. Institution-specific offers are quoted separately and are not automatically available at the public Pro price.
Paid subscriptions automatically renew for the selected billing interval until canceled, unless the checkout specifies otherwise. The renewal price and billing terms are presented at purchase. We will provide any notices required by applicable law before a price change or renewal. A failed payment does not establish an additional paid period of access.
7. Paddle checkout and payment processing
For purchases made using Paddle Checkout, Paddle acts as the Merchant of Record and authorized reseller. Paddle processes payments, applicable transaction taxes, receipts, billing information, and payment-related requests under its own buyer terms and privacy notices. Your use of the MetaWiz software remains governed by these Terms. You can review Paddle's Buyer Terms and Refund Policy.
MetaWiz does not itself guarantee that a payment has succeeded solely because a checkout window closes or a confirmation page appears. Paid access is activated only when payment or entitlement information is verified.
8. Subscription cancellation, renewals and refunds
You may request cancellation through My Subscription in your MetaWiz account, via the Paddle customer portal, or through Paddle's available customer-support channels. A normal end-of-period cancellation stops future automatic renewals while allowing access through the verified paid-through date, unless a refund, chargeback, legal requirement, or other applicable condition changes that entitlement.
Cancellation does not, by itself, automatically refund charges already paid, including unused portions of a month or year. Refund and withdrawal requests are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy, Paddle's applicable policies, and mandatory consumer protection law. If you need help identifying a payment, contact us using the details above or contact Paddle at https://paddle.net.
9. Fair use and prohibited conduct
You may not use MetaWiz to infringe third-party rights, distribute malware, access another user's research without authorization, bypass security or licensing controls, scrape the service excessively, or disrupt service availability. You may not use the service in violation of applicable laws or sanctions rules. We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, systems, or legal compliance, with notice when appropriate.
10. Service changes, availability, and support
We work to maintain a dependable service but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. Features may change, be temporarily unavailable, or be discontinued. For material changes affecting paid functionality, we will provide notice or remedies as required by applicable law or the terms of a separate institutional agreement.
Support requests can be submitted through https://metawiz.space/contact or admin@examlaunch.com.
11. Account closure and research-data export
Before ending an account or subscription, you should export or retain copies of research content you need. Account closure, project deletion, backups, and retained records are subject to available product functions, reasonable technical constraints, applicable retention obligations, and our Privacy Policy.
12. Disclaimers and liability
MetaWiz is supplied as a research-support tool. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim warranties not expressly stated in a separate written agreement, including any guarantee that research outputs are correct or suitable for a particular scientific or clinical purpose.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from reliance on unverified research outputs or unauthorized use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Updates to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect legal, operational, or product changes. We will indicate the effective date and provide notice of material changes where legally required. Continued use after the applicable effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
